Use a mild detergent or stainless steel cleaner to remove any contaminants. Rinse the surface thoroughly with clean water and dry it completely.     Sanding and smoothing: Use progressively finer grit sandpaper (starting with coarse grit and progressing to finer grits) to smooth out any imperfections, scratches, or blemishes on the stainless steel surface. Always sand in the direction of the grain to avoid creating new scratches. Make sure to remove all the previous sanding marks before moving to the next finer grit. Stainless Steel Polish Finish: Apply a polishing compound, specifically designed for stainless steel, onto a soft cloth or buffing pad.
